Celebrating 26 Years of International Diversity

1981-2007

¤ DIRECTOR'S CORNER ¤

Dear Friends of International House,

Greetings! It is with a mixture of anticipation and regret that I announce my decision to leave International House and move to California with my family.

During my tenure as Executive Director, International House underwent significant changes. We redefined our mission and programs in an effort to help people understand exactly what we do. We changed the way we budget and report our financials in an effort to help the Board and our stakeholders understand where their money goes. And we changed our organizational structure to promote teamwork both inside and outside the agency in an effort to better serve you, our community.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Board, the staff, and all our you for your support and assistance over the past five years as I have had the distinct privilege of serving this community and expressing my values through my work. I have learned a great deal (including Spanish!), and I have forged true friendships. I have given it my best, and I hope that you have noticed the work we've been doing. International House and I could not have done any of this without your continued support and participation.
Even though I am leaving the organization, I will stay actively engaged in helping the Board with the leadership transition, and act in an advisory role to the Board and the incoming Executive Director. Of course, I will also continue to help plan and ultimately attend the 2007 Canadian gala (celebrating my homeland!)

And finally, I will continue to support wherever I am the mission of promoting international understanding through diversity, cultural exchange, and advocacy for the less advantaged.

Sincerely,
David Stewart
Executive Director
