Celebrating 27 Years of International Diversity

1981-2008

¤ DIRECTOR'S CORNER ¤

Dear Friends,

Allow me to take this opportunity to thank a very special group of individuals. At the International House, we are fortunate to have so many great volunteers, who represent a broad range of nationalities, as well as economic and social backgrounds. What they have in common is a passion for our mission and a deep understanding of its importance.

Our volunteers assist in the organization's governance, program administration, development, special events and support numerous other critical functions. Given the small size of the International House staff, the added component of our volunteer pool enables us to provide high quality international exchange experiences, effective legal and educational programs, as well as engaging intercultural activities and forums.

As we head into this fiscal year, with the support of our staff, board and volunteers, International House will focus on the following key goals:

  • Diversify the Immigrant Advocacy Program and services in response to changing community needs, while strengthening the core Center for International Diversity programs;
  • Improve the application of technology and better manage our website content;
  • Increase program capacity by securing professional certification for paralegal staff;
  • Support the programmatic efforts of two Global Identify Forums, the Middle Eastern Council of the Carolinas and the African Council;
  • Increase avenues for philanthropic and volunteer support through strategic partnerships with local foundations, educational institutions and partner agencies;

As always, I invite you to become engaged with International House by participating in our programs and solicit your input and feedback on how we can better serve the region as we promote international understanding and appreciation.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in this wonderful organization!

Sincerely,
Bill Garcia
Executive Director
