A Learning Experience

As an intern for Lara Printz, I worked within the Citizen Diplomacy Department and worked on many projects within the International Visitor Leadership Program. I've held three internships - two in college, one shortly after- and my experience at International House was by far the most meaningful. Lara played an instrumental role in allowing me to explore my natural creativity through designing flyers and planning and decorating for the numerous events hosted by International House. The events and varied projects I worked on were fun and rewarding because I was able to contribute significantly to the process and see how my input impacted the projects when it all came together. The work environment was wonderful because the staff is warm, welcoming and very dedicated to the work they do within the community.

The projects, coupled with the great support I received from the staff, served as a catalyst in my rediscovering my passion for socially-focused design. I am currently living in San Francisco, building a portfolio to apply for graduate studies in Architecture. My goal is to use architecture and design to serve international communities in a creative planning capacity. I have no doubt that my experience at International House played a significant role in getting me where I am now. Much gratitude!
