About Us

Since 1981, International House has been a leading provider of direct services to Charlotte’s ever-growing international community, which numbers more than 104,000 immigrants and foreign-born citizens. We are a grassroots non-profit organization with a mission to promote international understanding and to serve immigrants in need. We offer foreign-language conversation hours, cultural events, an international book club, citizen diplomacy programs, an international women’s group, language classes, free citizenship workshops, legal services for low-income immigrants, and much more. Thank you for visiting our web site to learn more about our unique organization!

A volunteer tutor helps an immigrant learn to speak and write English through our very popular tutoring program. Each year, International House holds workshops to help prepare immigrants to become U.S. citizens, a dream for most. International House helps immigrants, like Kokouvi (pictured above), with their legal needs including citizenship and family reunification.
