Thank You, Wachovia Wells Fargo!

In July, The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation funded a grant request from International House under the Foundation's Community Needs Grant Program in the amount of $20,000 to help launch a new program - Youth English Tutoring Program (YETP). 

The Youth English Tutoring Program was launched July 27th with 7 tutors and 33 students. This pilot program was designed to help bridge the gap between school years for children who don’t speak English in the home. During the summer break, such students can lose some of the English skills learned during the school year, causing achievement gaps in other academic areas.

Wachovia has been an ongoing supporter of International House for several years including sponsoring the International House Annual Gala and having Bank executives serve on the International House Board.

Thank You, Bank of America!

In mid-May, The Bank of America Charitable Foundation granted Charlotte's International House $5,000 through the Foundation's Local Grant program. International House plans to use the grant for the English programs that have helped hundreds of immigrants in Charlotte.

Bank of America has been an ongoing supporter of International House for several years including sponsoring the International House Annual Gala and having Bank executives serve on the International House Board.

The grant allows International House to serve more low-income immigrants by removing an additional barrier many of them face -- the inability to speak English. International House believes this grant will improve lives and strengthen our community's economic and workforce development.

The grant will support the following programs - English Tutoring. English classes, English conversation hours and English writing classes. To learn more about the program, please click here.
