In 2021, International House expanded its elementary literacy programming to include a supplemental reading program at Briarwood Elementary. Rising Up, our after-school program continues the extra tutoring and learning offered in addition to our Rising Readers summer classes, helping to bridge the massive literacy gap we see between native English speakers and English Language Learners (ELL).
The spring at a glance:
We registered 140 students in the spring, and offered 28 hours of small group tutoring, with 18 staff members and CMS teachers, at two sites (Briarwood Academy and Merry Oaks Elementary).
