What is a Volunteer?

A volunteer is someone who contributes their time, skills, and experience to an organization or group and gives their time for free. In return, a volunteer may gain work experience, broaden their own skills, develop new interests and become more involved with the community.

Our volunteers serve in different roles and within our various departments and programs, such as:
  • Board members

  • Front office assitants

  • ESL and Citizenship tutors

  • Event volunteers for resource fairs and fundraisers

  • Event committee members

  • Conversation hour facilitators

 
 

What is an Intern?

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills.

Interns serve in professional roles within our different departments and programs, such as:
  • Legal assistants

  • Marketing and communications

  • Client services assistant

  • Education program coordinator

  • Social work intern
